Hi parents and creativity kids.
I have included instructions along with some pictures to get your creative juices flowing – go for it!!!
Flower lei’s were tied together and draped around the sides and the back. For hanging, pipe cleaners were used. Other than using flowers, you could hang action figurines, farm animals, dinosaurs, butterflies, mini hanging decor, cut-out cartoon characters, keychain tiny stuffed bears – the options are endless.
Is your child or children afraid of the dark? Maybe they prefer to have some kind of night light in their room. All you need is battery operated string lights. Just attach and drape around the hammock using pipe cleaners or ribbon.
Calling all the soccer fans. Add netting over the hammock in a 45-degree angle from the front to the back along with the sides so it looks just like a soccer net. Purchase 2 yards of netting and secure across the top, sides, and bottom using pipe cleaners.
Around 8 years old my daughter requested a “girl’s tiny home” so I purchased material to go around almost the entire hammock and leaving a slight opening in the front for access. She loved going in the tiny home to read a book or play.
As you can see by the picture, I added windows using half inch foam board, cutting window panes, then hot glued the windows onto the material, cutting the material away from the openings, and lastly hot glued flowers – a project we enjoyed doing.
For hanging, I attached ribbon to the material and tied it to the perimeter poles. This takes 3.25 yards of cotton fabric and a roll of ribbon. If you don’t have a sewing machine – no problem – you can use pinking shears for all edges of the material and attach the ribbon to the material with a few hand stiches. Just purchase whatever fabric your daughter or son likes.
Whether your child desires a tiny house, man cave, a cool fort or a secret hideout – the theme choices are unlimited. There are many fabric selections to choose from such as fictional characters, animals, butterflies, floral, rainbows, balloons, constellations, wilderness, tie dye, and sports just to name a few.
